Happy New Year Blackhawks!
Over the last two weeks, the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) and Michigan Department of Health & Human Services (MDHHS) have released information regarding the completion of Fall tournaments and the re-start of Winter practices and contests. You can read the most recent MHSAA Fall/Winter Update #17 – (12/23/20).
As long as there are no extensions, the current orders are set to expire on January 15th and Winter sports practices can start on January 16th with competitions beginning on January 22nd. Downhill skiing was the one sport that was provided an exception to this order and can begin practices sooner. The Brandon-Flushing Ski Team’s first official practice will be Monday January 4th – 4:30pm at Mt. Holly.
The rest of the Brandon Winter Coaching staff will be meeting this week to finalize practice and game schedules based on the recent MHSAA Update & Winter Tournament dates. Once practice times/locations are scheduled, we will update the information on our website and coaches will communicate with athletes. *Please note, since there will be a short preseason window, most high school teams will be allowed to hold tryouts/practices on weekends and on holidays (such as MLK day).
Games & contests schedules are still being updated, but changes can be found on our athletic website under each team’s respective schedule. As always, these schedules are fluid and subject to change. We will try our best to keep information current and up to date on our athletic website along with our social media outlets. If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact the Athletic Office. We will resume normal office hours (7:30am-3:00pm) starting on Monday January 4th.
We look forward to seeing our students and athletes back in the buildings, and can’t wait to start practicing & competing again!
