Hello Blackhawk Athletes and Families!
I hope this update finds you well! Over the last few days, Governor Whitmer has lifted the “Safer at Home” order and has allowed Outdoor athletic activities to take place in groups of less than 100 people. The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) has also provided updates on summer activity and re-opening guidance for school athletics. Below are the two most recent documents provided from the MHSAA.
…and the most recent update,
MHSAA Summer Guidance Update #1 – 6/2/20
Based on this guidance, we are currently working with our high school and middle school coaching staff to prepare for summer workouts and activities beginning as early as the week of June 15th. (*Please note, this is only for OUTDOOR sports and activities. Indoor sports, such as basketball, volleyball, wrestling and swim still have restrictions in place.) Athletes should be receiving communication from their respective coaches in the coming weeks. This is a fluid situation and we anticipate future information & updates will be coming as things progress. We will continue to share that information as it becomes available.
Any students who received a valid sports physical during the 2019-20 school year (one completed on or after April 15, 2019), may complete the 2020-21 MHSAA SPORTS HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE and it will be valid for the upcoming school year. Any student who did not have a valid physical, or is new to middle school and high school sports, will be required to have a physical exam from a MD, DO, NP, PA prior to participation using the MHSAA Sports Physical Form.
*Physical forms and Health Questionnaires can be dropped off to the high school or middle school starting on June 11th and 12th during “Book/Material Return Days” at both buildings. Otherwise, forms can be emailed or faxed to the athletic office anytime during the summer, or prior to the first official practice date for your respective sport. As always, if you have any questions please feel free to contact the Athletic Office.
