Brandon High School has a new Varsity Baseball coach, Kenny Ayers! The new skipper brings over 20 years of playing and coaching experience with him and we are excited to have him lead the Blackhawks Baseball program this Spring! As a player, Coach Ayers was a pitcher and infielder where he earned All-State recognition all 4 years at Pinconning High School. His senior year he was selected the MHSAA Baseball Dream Team. After high school, Kenny played for Mott Community College where he earned Junior College All-American accolades. He was also invited to open tryouts for the Detroit Tigers and made it through two rounds before being let go. Kenny continued to play in the Greater Flint Baseball League, Henry Ford Greenfield Village Historical Baseball league, and various other leagues in Ohio and California before getting into coaching. Kenny’s coaching days started in his home town where he coached freshman, JV and was a Varsity assistant for the Pinconning Baseball program. While his prior job caused him and his family to move frequently to advance his career, Coach Ayers also gained valuable coaching experience in baseball, as well as basketball, volleyball, and youth football as he moved about the country. Coach Ayers is proud to call Ortonville his home now and he looks forward to the opportunity to work with our baseball players!
We are excited to welcome Coach Ayers and his family to the Blackhawk community! Coach Ayers is meeting with players and parents on Tuesday Sept. 17th, 7:00pm in the high school cafeteria to discuss off-season workouts and prepare for the upcoming spring season. We wish him and the baseball program the best of luck!! #WeAreBlackhawks
